Again Buhari Meets Security Chiefs

Against the background of violence that characterized the presidential and National Assembly elections, President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday morning met with the heads of security agencies in the country.

The meeting which is ongoing started shortly before midday and its agenda was not made public.

Present at the meeting were the minister of defence, Lt. Gen. all the service chiefs including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonishakin, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Yusuf Buratai, Chief of Naval Staff,  Ibok-Ete IIbas, and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar.

Also present at the meeting include the National Security Adviser, Major Gen. Babagana Monguno, Director of National Intelligence Agency, the Director General, Department of Security Service and Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu.

The Minister of Defence, Brigadier Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali, the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dangazzau and the chief of staff to the president, Abba Kyari were also present in what observers described as a crucial meeting.

Besides security issues arising from the Northwest and Northeast the meeting is expected to dwell on issues that arose from the last presidential and National Assembly elections and how to address them.
