Bauchi Governor, Abubakar Loses Polling Unit

Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State was on Saturday afternoon’s re-election was in jeopardy after he lost in his polling unit in Saturday’s governorship election.

The governor who voted at 078 Polling Unit, Gindin Durumi Bauchi State polled 288 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate Bala Mohammed polled 358 votes.

The presiding officer at the polling booth, Chinedu Onora announced the results at the end of the sorting and counting.

Governor Abubakar’s loss of his polling booth is in the wake of apprehension by the state’s political leaders from all parties that the governor is not from the state. His critics claim that he is from Kogi State and came to Bauchi State to carry out his National Youth Service Corp, NYSC service and was retained by the then Bauchi State Government.
