Oyo Rep Shot Dead In Election Fracas Two Weeks After Senate Loss
A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Temitope Olatoye Sugar, was shot dead in Ibadan on Saturday in a shoot-out with an estranged political associate.
His death came two weeks after he lost in his bid to rise up from the House to the Senate to represent Oyo Central Senatorial District.
Two other persons at the scene also lost their lives in the shoot-out in the course of the gubernatorial and House of Assembly election that took place in Oyo State on Saturday.
It was gathered that Sugar who was elected to the House of Representatives on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC had recently defected to the Action Democratic Party, ADP.
In the course of the election, he was said to have run into one of his former boys who had refused to defect along with him to the ADP.
According to an eye witness account, Sugar had fired a gun at the boy and missed but the shots hit two other persons present killing the two instantly.
The former boy it was gathered returned to the scene and immediately shot at Sugar in the head.
The popular politician was said to have been rushed to the University College Hospital, UCH.
