President Buhari sign Electoral Bill

A new national minimum wage of N30,000 came into effect in Nigeria on Thursday after President Muhammadu Buhari signed the National Minimum Wage (Amendment Bill) passed by the National Assembly.

The president’s assent came ahead of the May 1 deadline given by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC on the president to sign the bill into law.

The House of Representatives had passed the bill before it went on election break while the Senate passed the bill on March 18 bringing the two chambers in convergence on the issue.

The last national minimum wage of N18,000 was passed during the Goodluck Jonathan administration in 2011.
