Muhammadu Buhari will do much better for the Southeast in his second term, Tony Nwoye, the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate in the 2017 governorship election in Anambra State has said.

Speaking with reporters in his Nsugbe country home, Dr. Nwoye said the president would not consider the fact that he did not win the majority of votes in the Southeast in apportioning projects and appointments to the region.

Nwoye, a medical doctor and member of the House of Representatives spoke against the background of expectations from the Southeast in the next dispensation.

“In the last election, majority of the people did not vote for APC out of sentiments. But the election has come and gone and a winner has emerged and we should support him.

“Igbo are critical stakeholders in the Nigeria project, and knowing Mr. President, he will not fail us in this. He is a man with a large heart.

“He would not say because our people did not vote for him, deny us what is due to us.

“Our people are republican in nature and the president cannot because the people of the South East did not vote for our party, deny them benefits they are supposed to enjoy as Nigerians.

“I also feel strongly that the president will do more in the South East during his second tenure. He will finish 2nd Niger Bridge, which is very critical to our economy and complete the ongoing road projects in all parts of the zone.

“Some of us who are more of activists than politicians are going to pressurize the government to do the needful. Members of the National Assembly should also contribute their own because for projects to be executed there should be budget allocation and passage. So I am optimistic that his second tenure will be better than the first tenure. He will be magnanimous enough.”
