Plateau PDP Exco Backs Suspension Of Sango As Chairman

65 of the 72 members of the State Executive Committee of the Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Monday, endorsed the suspension of Damishi Sango as the chairman of the state chapter of the party.

The same number also endorsed the suspension of the deputy chairman, Amos Gombi.

The 65 members in a resolution signed by them also said that the resolution would be communicated to national chairman and the north-central national vice-chairman of the party.

The resolution on Monday followed last Wednesday’s meeting at the state secretariat where it was resolved to remove the two men.

However, Sango was to counter the claim of his antagonists with the claim that the majority of the 72 members were not present at the meeting.

The latest resolution on Monday apparently takes the wind off his sail leaving him vulnerable.

The two were removed from office by other members of the State Executive Committee, SEC of the party on the basis of alleged poor accountability of finances, highhandedness and arbitrariness that in part led to the party’s defeat in some constituencies during the recent General Election. In the place of Sango, the State Vice Chairman Northern Senatorial Zone, Chris Hassan was appointed to steer the affairs of the party in the state.
