The Agbor Progressive Initiative, API has strongly denounced the opposition to the second term nomination of Mr. Godwin Emefiele as governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN by Mr. George Uboh on behalf of the Whistle Blowers Network.

The group in a statement on Monday expressed shock at Uboh’s action saying that he could go to the extent of jeopardizing the interest of his fellow Agbor man.

In the statement issued by Mr. William Eghebi, president of API, the group urged Uboh to immediately withdraw the court action in order not to face the cultural opprobrium of the Agbor people.

“Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have bordered replying Mr George Uboh for what the average Agbor man in particular and the entire Ika people in general viewed as noble and rare privilege that Mr President has accorded the Ika people to have one of their own serve a second term as CBN governor which has not happened for quite some time.

“For Mr George Uboh, a fellow Ika and Agbor man to want to jeopardize and frustrate Mr President’s good gesture for whatever reasons is to say the least unfortunate and the height of his anti-patriotic stand against his mother land.

“We in API want to state unequivocally that we frown seriously at the action by Mr George Uboh and charge him to immediately withdraw the suit  filled against the CBN governor because the action is not in the interest of Agbor Kingdom and Ika Nation and Nigeria.

“We also want to use this medium to express our profound gratitude to President Mohammadu Buhari for this honour he has done us as Agbor people and for reposing this great confidence in one of our own to serve a second term as the CBN governor.”
