Fraudster Arrested After Posing As Herbalist, DIG To Police Commissioner

A professional dupe who attempted to defraud the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama has met his waterloo after an attempt to present himself as a herbalist boomeranged.

Tayo Ogunmola who confessed to have raked in millions and built the house he now lives in though duping persons had posed as a retired Deputy Inspector General, DIG of police with the intention of helping CP Makama in his career.

As part of his craft he had sent a phone recharge pin to Makama which he said was a mistake and pleaded for the pin to be sent back as a basis of establishing a relationship.

CP Makama, however, detailed operatives of the Intelligence Response Team to follow up leading to his subsequent arrest.

Spokesman of the Ogun Police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, giving further details of the arrest disclosed:

“At a stage the suspect , who was not aware that he was  being trailed,  presented  himself to the CP as a DIG and that he was ready to assist the CP  if he could  part with certain amount of money,  not knowing that the person he’s been discussing with is a serving Commissioner of Police.

“Luck however ran against him when he was traced to his hideout at Araromi phase II, in ilogbo area of Ota, where he was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, he confessed being a fraudster who had defrauded many unsuspecting members of the public of money running into millions of naira out of which he built the house he is living in presently.

“Meanwhile, CP Bashir Makama,  has ordered the monitoring team to properly investigate the suspect with the view of arresting his other accomplices and arraign them before the court of competent jurisdiction.”
