Controversy Trails Suspension Of Student Who Called VC Foolish

A 200-Level student of the Akwa Ibom State University has been indefinitely suspended from the school for allegedly calling the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Eno Ibanga “That Foolish VC” on Facebook.

Miss Nkanang Joy Ufot with registration number AK17/ART/FPA/024 was asked by the university registrar to keep away from the school while on suspension unless her attention was requested.

Nkannang is a student of performing arts of the Faculty of Arts and her action was termed gross misconduct in the letter conveying her suspension obtained by GreenWhiteGreen.

THE Akwa Ibom state University AKSU has suspended indefinitely one Nkanang Joy Ufot, a 200level student of the department of Performing Arts, Faculty of Arts, over alleged gross misconduct.

The University Registrar and Secretary to Senate, Mr. John. E. Udo in the letter dated 9th May, 2019 said:

“In line with the University rules and regulations enshrined in the students information handbook the Vice Chancellor has directed that your studentship should be suspended indefinitely with effect from the date of this letter, for this act of gross misconduct which constitutes a breach of matriculation oath.

“This suspension is pending the outcome of the investigation by the students disciplinary committee. Also the Dean of your Faculty as well as the Head of your department are hereby informed to ensure strict compliance with this decision.

“The security officer is by a copy of this letter directed not to allow you entry into the University campuses during the period of your suspension, unless you are expressly invited by the authorities of the University”
