The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State is celebrating the appointment of Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN as the minister from the state.

Party activists told GreenWhiteGreen that the appointment of the minister and former All Progressives Congress, APC campaign communication director has become an albatross that will work against the APC in the state.

“The PDP is happy with the appointment of Keyamo as minister,” a PDP organizer said.

“Keyamo and Omo-Agege (Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy President of the Senate) are from Delta Central and that has made the APC to be concentrated in Central and the Itsekiri, Ijaw are not happy,” the PDP activist said.

“If the appointment had been given to Emmanuel Uduaghan, it would have balanced the forces and given the Delta South not just a sense of belonging but also given the APC a broader platform to organize.

But as it is now, the APC will be localized in the Central,” the source added.

Besides, the PDP organizer also echoed comments by some APC chieftains in Delta State who allege that Keyamo is not on the ground.

“Keyamo is a portfolio politician based more in Lagos and Abuja and is not on the ground here in Delta.

“Even more, he does not have the stature to speak up to someone like Omo-Agege. Unlike someone like Uduaghan who can call Omo-Agege at anytime, Keyamo does not have the political capacity to rival or match Omo-Agege and bring a political synergy that could have troubled us. So you can see why the PDP is happy with his appointment as minister.”

The APC has, however, dismissed such insinuations with the chairman of the state chapter of the party, Prophet Jones Erue and Omo-Agege lauding the appointment.

There are claims that Omo-Agege made a major impact in bringing about the appointment.
