Mass Defection Hits Zamfara APC As Former Deputy Gov, Speaker Abandon Yari For PDP

The Zamfara State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress was on Thursday hit by massive wave of defection with over 3,000 party members, including former deputy governor, Alhaji Mutari Anka defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The defectors also included former state assembly speaker, Bature Sambo, former commissioner, Alhaji Gurbin Bore and former Secretary to the state Government, SSG, Alhaji Mohammed Bawa Gusau, the present vice chairman of Zurmi local Government area, Mainasara Abubakar Atiku, seven serving councillors across the state and senior special assistants who served during administration of the immediate former governor of the state,  AbdulAziz Yari’s 

Welcoming the defectors at the Government House, Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle expressed satisfaction in the decision of the politicians to defect noting that they have returned back to their former abode.

Matawalle assured the former APC members of adequate hospitality in the PDP, stressing that his administration is inclusive irrespective of political affiliations.

Matawalle however warned APC members to desist from conniving with repentant armed bandits to reject the peace accord and reconciliation process initiated by his government

According to him, “If they do not desist. I will definitely arrest and prosecute them for armed banditry.”

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, the former deputy governor, Alhaji Mutari Anka revealed that  majority of the defectors are former PDP members, who had decided to return back home. 

According to him, “We want to contribute our own quarter to the development of the state since one of our own is now piloting the affairs of the state, and our great party is able to form government in the state.”
