Robbery Suspects Caught Placing Ambush On Benin-Shagamu Expressway

The Ogun State Police Command over the weekend arrested three suspected armed robbers, who had terrorized motorists and pedestrians along the Odogbolu/Ijebu-Ode Expressway. 

The Police identified the arrested suspects as Johnson Afokolu, Victor Michael and Jacob Usang.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, disclosed that operatives of the Ogun State Police Command nabbed the arrested suspects while they were placing an ambush along the highway.

Oyeyemi stated that upon interrogation the arrested suspects confessed to being responsible for most of the robbery cases in the area, stressing that they were caught hotly chased and apprehended.

Giving details of the recovered items, he said:

“Recovered from them were; one toy gun, six torch lights, military fez cap, dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, knife, assorted clothes and three different types of handsets.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to special anti-robbery squad for discreet investigation. He also ordered a massive manhunt for the remaining members of the gang in order to ensure sanity along the express road.”
