Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was not invited for the recent retreat organised for members of the newly inaugurated Lagos State Executive Council that was also graced by the two other former Fourth Republic governors of the state.

Former governors Bola Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola attended the retreat at held at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos.

Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES on Sunday, the former governor’s spokesman, Habib Haruna said: “You should ask them why they did not invite Mr Ambode. They are in the best position to know why they didn’t invite him.”

The Two Other Former Governors Of The State Were Present

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu overwhelmed Ambode as sitting governor in a bitter internal party contest last September positioning Ambode as the only one term governor of the state in the Fourth Republic.

Last Tuesday, operatives of the anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC raided the residence of the embattled former governor in Epe as part of an ongoing corruption investigation.

As part of that corruption, bank accounts allegedly used to launder billions of naira for Mr. Ambode were frozen by the EFCC.

Ambode has, however, denied links to both the accounts and any allegations of corruption while in office.
