President Julius Bio of Sierra Leone has dismissed his state chief of protocol (SCOP), Ms. Edna Kargbo after she gave testimony in Prophet TB Joshua’s church of how ‘God’ had prospered her following her appointment to the presidential office.

Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Agency has also launched an investigation into the source of her wealth that transformed her from living in a single room apartment to a mansion after her appointment.

Ms. Kargbo had travelled to Prophet Joshua’s Synagogue Church of All Nations during which she spoke of the prosperity that had come her way since her appointment.

She displayed photographs of her appointment letter as SCOP and the mansion she now lives in to a crowd of well wishers outside the church building.

Emmanuel TV, the church’s television station had quoted her saying:

“I want to thank God for blessing me with this job as SCOP to the president of Sierra Leone, ambassador at large and the blessings that come with it. If you look closely at this picture you will see my luxurious house God has blessed me with. I was living in a single room apartment. But my story is now different,” she said in a speech, aired by Emmanuel TV.

Following public uproar, the office of the Sierra Leonean President had in a statement announcing her sack said: “The official has been relieved of her duties following a testimony she gave in a Nigerian church. Further administrative investigations will be carried out.”

Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission in another statement had said that it was also investigating Kargbo saying:

“The Anti-Corruption Commission has opened an official investigation into the conduct of the official and her testimony. We will also look at her source of wealth in acquiring her house and other properties. If it contradicts the anti-corruption act or we find instances of unexplained wealth, she will be charged to court and will be asked to pay a fine.”
