Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has weighed in into the feud between Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State and his predecessor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, and urged the incumbent to rescind his arrest order issued against his predecessor.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide noted that the immediate arrest order issued by Ihedioha against Okorocha is an invitation to anarchy, stressing that the timing of the action is inappropriate, considering the governor’s plan to celebrate 100 days in office.

The group, in a statement signed by its President-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro also condemned the assualt meted out against the Imo Chairman on Asset Recovery Committee,  Hon Jasper Ndubuka by thugs allegedly working for Okorocha, while calling on the youth of the state to shun all forms of violence that might disrupt the peace of the state.

The group further added that “We call for the immediate intervention of South East Governors and Igbo leaders as we ask Imo State Religious leaders, Traditional Rulers, State House of Assembly to Join Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide to interface with Governor Ihedioha and Senator Rochas Anayo Okorocha, and Urge Imolites especially the Youths to suspend any action impending on the outcome of the peace parley with the duo.”

Part of the statement reads:

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide begs Senator Rochas Anayo Okorocha to stay away from the state at the moment until the dust settles down, we believe that Governor Ihedioha will see the wisdom and rescind on the decision to arrest Okorocha, and urge him to suspend the activities of Jasper Ndubuka committee on recovery Govt assets until the situation is under control, We will not allow any South East State to be under control of a sole administrator Under State of Emergency.”
