Nepotism: Anambra APC Boils

The All Progressives Congress, APC in Anambra State is at the brink of implosion following increasing mutterings by stakeholders over the marginalization of their members by a few individuals within the state chapter.

Stakeholders are particularly miffed by the concentration of appointments in one federal constituency out of the 11 federal constituencies in the state.

The two persons said to be commanding the appointments in the state are the minister of labour, employment and productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige and the minister of state for environment, Ms. Sharon Ikeazor. Both ministers are from the same federal constituency, Idemili Federal Constituency in Anambra Central Senatorial District.

Even more, the other two high-level federal appointments made by the Muhammadu Buhari administration in the year are also from Idemili Federal Constituency.

The two appointees are Emeka Ngige, immediate younger brother of the minister who was in May, 2019 appointed as chairman of the Council of Legal Education. The other high-level appointment was to Dr. (Mrs.) Chioma Ejikeme, as executive secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, PTAD.

Ejikeme who is also from the same Idemili North local government area as Ms. Ikeazor is described as a bosom friend of the minister of environment.

Stakeholders from the state and from the pension sector are also peeved over the appointment as they allege that it signposted a readiness by Ms. Ikeazor to continue her hold over the juicy PTAD through her appointee.

“We all knew her replacement to be her friend who was always around her when she was at PTAD and in fact was thought to be her Personal Assistant as she in fact used to take notes for Sharon during meetings.”

“What further evidence of corruption do we need than this,” a stakeholder in the party miffed.

It was learnt that a sizeable proportion of the party structure committed to some party leaders who helped to mobilise for the party during the last General Election are having second thoughts over their continued membership of the party.

“We took out our time to mobilse for Mr. President and see what we have now? Who knows Sharon in Anambra? In fact let me tell you until recently, she didn’t vote in Anambra, so why damn the rest of us because of her and her friends.

“To add insult to injury her friend who we call her PA is replacing her at PTAD, what does that show,” the high ranking party stakeholder mused.
