The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly has debunked news reports alleging that he collapsed and had been rushed abroad.

Affirming that he was truly ill as any other mortal, the Speaker, however, affirmed that his condition was spun by political rivals to achieve political goals.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Femi Olugbemi, he said:

Our attention has been drawn to the mischievously motivated post on an online platform, we do not intend to glorify with mention of the health status of Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly.

“It is a fact that the Speaker a few days back was ill-disposed as every other human being is susceptible due largely to stress.

“What is spurious and fictitious is the claim that the Speaker collapsed; nothing could be farther from the truth.

“To the glory of God, those wishing Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole evil have been put to shame as the Speaker is recuperating and will soon be back.

“It is pathetic to see the level certain individuals are ready to descend all in the name of politicking.

“We understand the conspiracy being spun by those intimidated by the political prowess of the Speaker across divides and admonish them to heed the saying that ‘who God has blessed, no man can curse’

“For the avoidance of any doubt, the Speaker is not battling an undisclosed health challenges.

“As the ensuing days will reveal, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole will return healthier and stronger to join others in ensuring overwhelming victory for the GYB/CEDO ticket in the 16th November, 2019 governorship election in Kogi State.

“The purveyors of this bundle of falsehood should court greater discipline and wisdom, enlist their uncanny talents in the service of the State instead of in the service of political intrigue and gossip mongering.”
