The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday vowed to press its case for the nullification of the election of Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State to the Supreme Court following the dismissal of its petition against the election of the governor by the Court of Appeal.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on the other hand was conciliatory as it acknowledged what it claimed as the emotional investment of the APC candidate, Nsima Ekere in the election as it extended the hand of fellowship to him.

The Court of Appeal had on Wednesday dismissed the appeal lodged by the APC and Ekere against the election of Mr. Emmanuel.

Responding immediately in a sharp message, Etim Etim of the APC said they were disappointed by the judgment having “presented enough evidence to prove our case. We hope to take our case to the Supreme Court.

We thank our members and supporters across the country for their supporting”.

The PDP on the other hand while expressing its hand of fellowship through its spokesman, Comrade Ini Ememobong said, “by this judgment, the judiciary has again shown that justice is directed by law and not federal might, partisan colouration or other extra legal dispositions. To this we are deeply grateful to the court and wholeheartedly welcome the judgement.

“To the opposition APC, we renew our call for partnership in the execution of the Akwa Ibom Project through the vehicle of the completion agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

“We acknowledge the zeal and emotional investments committed to the Governorship quest by Obong Nsima Ekere, an illustrious Akwa Ibom son, who rose to the exalted office of Deputy Governor through the instrumentality of our party.

“He has fought the fight, ran the race, but the results are not in his favour. We urge him to avoid the temptation of escalation of commitment and rather view the Akwa Ibom project as the cynosure and act in the benefit of the larger interest of the people.

“We commend our legal team for diligent and excellent representation. The legal department of our Party led by the State Legal Adviser, Goddy Umoh Esq have shown great dedication in the pursuit of this case deserves commendation.

“We continually appreciate Akwa Ibom people who have always stood firm with our party, with their definitive vote. It is our promise that we will continue to deliver democracy dividends and lead our state steadily on the journey to the land of fulfillment.

“God Almighty deserves all our praise for his grace and protection throughout the election period. He ensured that His will prevailed over the power of men. To him alone be all glory and praise. “
