Bayelsa/Kogi 2019 Election
Bayelsa: Jonathan Not Worried With APC Victory – Gov Bagudu
President Goodluck Jonathan and his associates have no problem with the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Douyle Diri in the Bayelsa State governorship election, Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has said.
Governor Bagudu who was chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Campaign Council disclosed this following the presentation of David Lyon, the APC candidate to President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja on Monday.
The claim about Dr. Jonathan’s comfort follows reports of misgivings in the PDP and in the camp of Dr. Jonathan after Governor Serikae Dickson foisted Diri as the candidate against the expectation of many stakeholders.
Speaking at the villa on Monday, Governor Bagudu said:
He said: “We were in Bayelsa for over 72 hours we didn’t see a tyre burning, we didn’t see people running, we didn’t hear a gunshot, everyone was celebrating in all the areas we passed, which shows the acceptance of our candidate, our party and the process itself.
“It is equally noteworthy that Bayelsa is a home of a former president of Nigeria and this election won by a party different from the one he belongs, has been accepted by all including people around him.
“And so far, from what we hear, he is also happy with the outcome irrespective of the difference in the party, which is an indication of the transparency of the process.’’
