BA Explains Air Return Of Abuja Bound Aircraft

British Airways has partially opened up on the circumstances of the Abuja bound aircraft that executed an air return to Heathrow on Tuesday night blaming it on a “minor technical issue.”

The airline, however, did not explain what kind of technical issue it experienced even as it apologized to its customers over the issue.

The London – Abuja flight was cancelled bringing panic to families of those on the flight who waited anxiously until Abuja ground staff explained to them the circumstances of the flight.

It also brought distress to passengers scheduled to have returned with the aircraft to London as the flight was deferred. British Airways has yet to make public the arrangements it has made for the passengers who were expected to travel from Abuja.

Explaining what happened, the airline in a statement on Wednesday said:

“For your information, the aircraft experienced a minor technical issue and our pilots elected to return to Heathrow. In terms of the emergency services meeting the aircraft, this is standard practice.  “Our aircraft returned to Heathrow and was met by the emergency services as a precaution after experiencing a minor technical issue. Our teams looked after our customers last night, providing them with overnight accommodation. We’re sorry to our customers for the delay to their travel plans.”
