After Worst Run In 27 Years, Arsenal Sack Emery
By Oluwafemi Ayodele
After the worst run of results in 27 years with no win in seven matches, Arsenal have sacked head coach Unai Emery.
The final decision was apparently prompted by Thursday’s night home 1-2 defeat in the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
The club have won only four out of their 13 Premier League games and are eight points below the Champions League benchmark.
Former Arsenal winger and member of ‘The Invincibles’, of the nineties, Freddie Ljungberg, is to take charge of the team while the club searches for a suitable replacement.
Arsenal director Josh Kroenke who announced it said: “Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand.
“We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success.”
