Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, has disclosed that Nigeria is working with its South African government to bring all perpetrators of violence to book.

Dabiri-Erewa expressed joy that justice has started and would be done on all violence committed on Nigerians in that country.

Dabiri-Erewa who expressed satisfaction over the conviction of the Police officer who killed a Nigerian some years ago, urged Nigerians resident in South Africa to abide by the advice given by President Muhammadu Buhari for them to be good ambassadors of the country.

She said, ”We have always stated that there has to be consequences for actions. We are glad that this case finally came to an end and South Africa has demonstrated the political will to deal with xenophobia.”

She commended the Nigerian Mission in Johannesburg for following through with the case and other cases involving Nigerians.

Speaking on the same matter, Consul General of Nigeria in South Africa, Godwin Adama, said that he was happy that the case came to an end on Friday with judgment pronounced on the guilty police officer.

He stated that the second case of 8 police men being tried for the murder of a Nigerian, Ibrahim Badmus, was adjourned until April 2020 for final ruling due to some technical issues.

According to Adama  the  Friday judgment was an encouragement to all Nigerians in South Africa.
