Two policemen and two members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB from Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State lost their lives following a clash on Monday.

IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu speaking from his base abroad raised the alarm that the Police in Anambra State invaded the house of his lawyer Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, in Ifite Oraifite and killed two IPOB members while scores were wounded.

But a source from Oraifite said the problem arose from a between two rival cult groups that have been operating in Oraifite community.

The IPOB leader Mazi Kanu had in a statement said, “Confirmed reports indicate that a combined team of Nigeria Police assassination squad invaded the home of my lawyer Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor in Oraifite Anambra State, this morning Monday December 2 in a bid to kill him and his family.”

“Sadly three innocent Biafrans were killed by this invading Fulani force at his residence. This comes on the heel of yet another killing of two IPOB family members who were peacefully gathered in Arondizuogu yesterday 1 December. Their bodies are still in the morgue.

“Fulani caliphate Police must know that the time is fast approaching when British diplomatic clout and protection may not be enough to shield them from the consequences of their daily crimes against innocent Biafrans.”

The pro Biafra group leader warned that  “Attacking the home of my lawyer is a step too far and the only effect it will have is to hasten the disintegration of Nigeria.

“Those responsible for this deadly assault know they will pay dearly for it, they know, it’s only a matter of time.”

Green White Green, GWG, gathered from a source in Oraifite, that two cult groups known as “Eke” and “Afor” groups, had been engaged in a war of supremacy for some time in the community which led to people sustaining injuries in the town.

The two groups again clashed last week during a burial ceremony leading to casualties on both sides that led to one side inviting the police.

The source said the Police were led to believe that the cult members were in the office of the lawyer.

An argument was said to have ensued between the police and IPOB members in Ejiofor’s house and the police was alleged to gave opened fire on the alleged IPOB members and in the process, two people were allegedly gunned down and some irate youths in retaliation, overpowered the police, allegedly killed them and burnt them with their vehicle them around  Nkwo Oraifite.

Reacting to newsmen on the incident, the traditional ruler of Oraifite Igwe Dr. Dan Ugorji, said he was just informed by his palace secretary and that he has sent the President General of Oraifite to intervene to ensure peace.

Igwe Ugorji expressed disappointment at what he described as the senseless killings.

“I do not know why people can be very quick in killing with guns, why did they not arrest the culprits instead of shooting them, there is no need for loss of lives at this time, both on the side of the police and the community.

“I think every problem can be settled through dialogue instead of killing people, we must however maintain peace at all times, killing and rioting will not lead the country to anywhere, government need to reeducate the Police and the Army.”

Contacted the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Anambra State Police Command, Mr. Haruna Mohammed confirmed the incident but claimed ignorance of the details of the incident.
