The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has directed churches to announce the death of German evangelist Reinhard Bonnke and to observe a one minute silence in his memory.

President of CAN, Dr. Samson Ayokunle in a statement he issued on Monday said that Bonnke who he said would have been received in heaven can never be forgotten in Nigeria and Africa on account of his passionate drive to send darkness out of the continent.

In the second statement he would issue since Bonnke died last weekend, Ayokunle said:

“Reinhard Bonnke was a gospel titan and an enigma. Reinhard Bonnke did not only take the world by storm with the undiluted word of God but equally brought many in darkness to the light of the gospel. He did not only preach the word in season and out of season, he demonstrated the word with signs and wonders following.

“Many received their healings free of charge through the gospel of power that he preached. Reinhard Bonnke can never be forgotten in Nigeria and Africa as a whole because of his strong desire to see Africa saved through the liberating power of the gospel. He was a true father of faith, a soldier of Christ who never allowed any distraction at all to sway him from preaching the authentic gospel.

“On behalf of Christian Association of Nigeria, I commiserate with his family and all the children of God all over the world on the physical loss of this impactful and loving man of God. We are confident however that he has gone to be with the Lord where joy shall never end for a full rest.

“His was a life of purpose and great meaning. It is our prayer that after we have finished our works here on earth, we shall join with him and other saints at the feet of Christ where we would never be separated again.

“We urge all churches in Nigeria to announce the home call of Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke in their churches and observe a minute silence in the remembrance of his great love to see Nigerians saved through the Gospel of Christ.”
