Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has appealed for the sheathing of the sword by leaders in Edo State saying that no meaningful development can take place in the atmosphere of discord.

Ize-Iyamu, the 2016 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP now a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in his New Year message reiterated his personal commitment to dialogue as he urged fellow politicians to trudge the path of peace.

Ize-Iyamu did not mention Governor Godwin Obaseki or his predecessor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who are the major combatants in the struggle for the soul of the APC in Edo State.

Ize-Iyamu’s defection from the PDP to the APC, it is believed in political circles could also compound the situation as it gives the Oshiomhole tendency in the state the human resources to combat the governor in their battles ahead.

Ize-Iyamu in his message said:

“We give God the glory for successfully crossing over to the year 2020. We pray for peace, unity and progress in the months ahead. We appeal to those at loggerheads politically to sheathe their swords and appreciate the fact that no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of discord.

“I personally reiterate my belief in peaceful dialogue and call on other political leaders to toe this line of engagement devoid of blackmail, threats, bickering or violence.

“We thank his royal majesty the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II and other traditional rulers for their fatherly disposition and counsel.  We also appreciate our religious fathers for faithfully standing in the gap for the land.

“We greet all Edo people and appeal for greater unity in the years ahead. On behalf of my family and friends I wish you all a wonderful New Year.”
