The English Premier League resumed in the New Year as the likes of Jose Mourinho saw his Spurs team play catch up after conceding to a goal to in form Danny Ings at Southampton, Arsenal bullied Manchester United at the Emirates, James Maddison produced one of the best performances so far in Leicester’s win over Newcastle, an incredible Wolves team surprisingly lost to bottom of the table Watford team.

The drama never ends, this year is a continuity of what 2019 offered. These are the major expectations in the Premier League for 2020

Liverpool in the late feature on Thursday saw off a strong resistance from Sheffield United to sustain its 2019 season unbeaten run in the league into 2020.

LIVERPOOL COULD END THE SEASON UNBEATEN: The Reds have been flawless, impeccable, domineering, gallant, confident, gallant and full of life so far in the Premier League.

The big boys aren’t giving room for complacency at the moment, there is an aura of success around the Liverpool camp and there is no going back for the Reds. It has been a smooth ride to the destined land as we await the coronation of the new champions.

Jurgen Klopp has setup a formidable side that can go all the way and just win the Premier League without getting punctured. All the stones thrown at them have been spectacularly weaved, this period of the season is usually vital. Only Manchester United have been able to stop Liverpool from winning so far and if this continues, we can welcome the new champions.

WATFORD’S BATTLE FOR SURVIVAL WILL GET TOUGHER: Watford have been the underdogs of the season so far.

Team linkage has been poor, team synergy has been horrendous and nobody has been able to lift the dull spirits. The likes of Ismaila Sarr and Troy Deeney have been sensational for the struggling Watford side but have failed to get the team rejuvenated.

Relegation bells are ringing in the ears of the Watford players.

THE QUALIFICATION FOR THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND EUROPA LEAGUE WILL BE ONE OF THE MOST COMPETITIVE EVER SEEN IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE : Fluctuation and inconsistency by the other teams apart from Liverpool at the top half of the table has made the European spots up for grabs to any team filled with potential.

Chelsea’s disappointing draw against Brighton after beating Arsenal just sums it all. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team have been astonishingly vanquished by teams with lower quality.

Wolves have done the double over Manchester City, Manchester United has beaten City, Liverpool and Norwich have also taken their bites out of the City. With the likes of Sheffield, Leicester, Wolves and Crystal Palace showing interest as unlikely contenders for the European places, the duel could just get more exhilarating.

CARLO ANCELOTTI’S WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE WILL HELP EVERTON BEAT THE BIG TEAMS:

One of the most illustrious managers in football history has come to put other managers in a state of sixes and sevens.

Guardiola battled to win his Everton side last night, thanks to Gabriel Jesus’ double. The likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Wolves cannot underrate Carlo Ancelotti’s presence as a manager.

He might just want to make his presence felt by beating the big teams and telling the world that apart from winning the Champions League as coach of Ac Milan and Real Madrid, he can also make use of an Everton team with lesser stars and trophies in the cabinet to vanquish bigger oppositions.

AN APPRENTICE CAN UPSET HIS MASTER WHEN THEY MEET:

Mikel Arteta made a move to Arsenal after learning the nitty-gritty of the managerial lifestyle under Pep Guardiola. Both managers were a perfect combination during Manchester City’s years of dominance. They won the Premier League two times in a row, won the FA Cup, won the Carabao cup and broke several records.

Arteta might just summon courage and go for the killer when he goes face to face against his erstwhile master. Arsenal vs Manchester City will be one of the most anticipated games this season. The world witnessed Frank Lampard beating Jose Mourinho, we can see it happen again.
