To increase its revenue profile, Akwa Ibom State  has indicated its preparedness to raise its Internally Generated Revenue to Over N100bn in 2020.

This was disclosed by the state commissioner for Finance, Mr Linus Nkan, during a chat with newsmen in Uyo .

According to Nkan, the revenue generated from the taxes paid by the industries and from the employees enabled the state in 2019 to double the revenue realized in 2018.

He said, “Our efforts to boost the economy have boosted our IGR. That of 2019 was almost double what we got in 2018. We shouldn’t do anything less that N100b in 2020. As we are doing all these industries, they’ll now pay tax and those employed are also paying taxes to government.”
