Buhari’s Supporters Damn Danjuma, ‘Owners Of Nigeria’

Under President Muhammadu Buhari, the fate of Nigeria is in the hands of Nigerians, not the Oligarchs, or those who think they own the country, the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has said.

According to BMO, this is the import of the President’s emphatic response to the position of a former Minister of Defence Gen. Theophilus Danjuma that he has lost confidence in the Buhari administration.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, BMO said President Buhari’s comment in the exclusive interview with ‘The Interview’ shows that he was more interested in winning the confidence of the majority of Nigerians.

“We see the President’s riposte to ‘The Interview’ as a good response to not only Danjuma but also to a section of the political elite that is clearly not comfortable with the pro-people policies of the Buhari administration.

“These are individuals that have for years been calling the shots behind the scene and have representatives from virtually all the major ethnic and religious groups, but for the first time, Nigeria has a government in place that is not beholden to these people.

“They have been nicknamed ‘owners of Nigeria PLC’ and operate under the banner of various ethno, socio and political groups.”

BMO noted that the fact that President Buhari had a connection with the masses long before he won the 2015 Presidential election is a key reason he was confident enough to snub members of ‘Owners of Nigeria PLC.’

“What President Buhari has done in that interview is to send a clear message to those people that he wasn’t bothered by their loss of confidence in him as long as he is serving the generality of Nigerians.”

BMO added that anyone in doubt of the President’s interest in the masses should pay attention to his position that ‘no good leader should wish his people tough times at any time’ as well as his affirmation of his pledge to continue the process of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years.
