Bayelsa: Edo PDP Hails S/Court Judgment

Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih on Thursday hailed the Supreme Court judgment which nullified the election of David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress, APC as governor of Bayelsa State.

Orbih said the judgment was a welcome development for Nigeria’s democracy and wished “the good people of Bayelsa, the government and the PDP family in the state a successful inauguration as they form the state government to take oil-rich Bayelsa State to higher heights.”

The Supreme Court had on Thursday nullified the election of Bayelsa State governor-elect David Lyon and his deputy-elect Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.

The court sacked Lyon for contesting the election on a joint ticket with Degi-Eremienyo, whom it said forged the certificate he presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
