With No Deputies, APC In Crisis After Suspension Of Oshiomhole From Office

A major leadership crisis was erupting in the All Progressives Congress, APC on Wednesday after the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was suspended from office on the orders of a Federal High Court.

The leadership crisis is in the trail of vacancies in the Oshiomhole led executive which has seen his immediate subordinates either suspended from office or forced out of office on account of other appointments.

His immediate deputy, Deputy National Chairman, (North) Senator Lawali Shuaibu was suspended last June while the Deputy National Chairman, South, Chief Niyi Adebayo left office to become a minister.

The National Vice Chairman (Northwest) Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir has also been forced out of office following a suspension at the same time with Shuaibu.

The National Vice Chairman Northeast, Mustapha Salihu is also not at ease with Oshiomhole and had indeed following disagreements with the embattled national chairman.

Following the court ruling on Wednesday, party stakeholders were on edge on the imminent leadership vacuum in the ruling party.

The FCT High Court sitting in Jabi had ordered Oshiomhole’s suspension from office pending the determination of the substantive suit brought to question his continued sustenance in office following his suspension by his local chapter of the party.

Justice Danlami Senchi gave the order upon an interlocutory injunction filed by Oluwale Afolabi.

Afolabi contends that with Oshiomhole’s suspension by his ward in Edo State that he lacks the locus standi to hold office as the national chairman of the party.

The judge affirmed that political parties should be bound by their own rules.
