Frank Lampard had his best game since he was appointed Chelsea manager on Saturday handing a handsome 4-0 defeat upon Everton, coached by his former boss when he was a Chelsea player.

It was also the joint heaviest defeat suffered by Carlo Ancelotti in his 25-year coaching career.

Lampard came out of the game with the credential of trashing his two former coaches as a player in Chelsea. Incidentally, none of the teams coached by his former managers, Jose Mourinho (Tottenham) and Ancelotti’s Everton have scored a goal against his Chelsea team.

The Saturday defeat of Everton came as Chelsea brushed off their injury problems to mesmerize the Everton team.

Chelsea started the game brighter with sharp passes with Gilmour getting his first start at the heart of the midfield. He was arguably the man of the match with his overall command of the passes in the game.

Pedro initiated the first goal just about 10 minutes after the game started after a dribbling run that saw him feed Mount who fired a grounder that Pickford in goal for Everton could not stop.

The second came about 10 minutes later just when Everton was trying to settle when Gilmour fed Ross Barkley who pushed on the ball to Pedro to slot the ball beyond a disconcerted Pickford.

At the resumption Ancelotti brought in Theo Walcott for Bernard, but that did not help matters for the miserable Everton as six minutes from resumption Chelsea made it three through Willian.

Everton was much to blame as the Chelsea playmaker was given enough room to settle to give a 20-yard bullet that again beat the Everton keeper.

The rout was completed not long after when Giroud who had been tormenting the Everton defence slotted in with his leg from a Willian cross that sealed the fate of the Merseyside team.

It was two successive defeats by the London club over the Merseyside teams following the spanking of Liverpool five days earlier in the FA cup.
