BREAKING: Sanusi Deposed As Emir Of Kano!

Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II has been dethroned as the emir of Kano. A terse statement issued by Salihu Tanko Yakasai, the Special adviser to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje on Monday afternoon said he was dethroned following the unanimous resolution of the State Executive Council.

He said:

The Kano State Executive Council has unanimously approved the dethronement of the Emir of Kamo Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II at a special sitting held today by the council.

The dethronement followed a fracas earlier on Monday morning in the chambers of the State House of Assembly when members fought over a move to table a report on the investigation of the emir.

The emir and the governor had been at loggerheads following perceptions that the emir who was crowned in 2014 was opposed to the governor’s second term aspiration.
