Sanusi: Shehu Sani Calls Out El-Rufai
By Ayodele Oluwafemi
Senator Shehu Sani has lauded the role of Governor Nasir El-Rufai in identifying with the majority of Nigerians on the deposition of Emir Muhammad Sanusi as Kano’s monarch.
The fiery former lawmaker has, however, challenged the governor to live up to his words in allowing the kind of liberty he desires for Sanusi among his own people in Kaduna State.
Sani spoke on a Channels Television programme Politics Today on Wednesday.
“Can the governor of Kaduna State, tolerate Shehu Sani as the Emir of Kaduna for 24hours?
“Can I last for more than one day? So I think what matters most is that, we should practice what we preach, in as much as, we accept or reject the position of Sanusi, let us see that within your domain, you are tolerant of people critical of you. I’m fully in support of whatever is being done to identify with Sanusi.
“And I think that it is time that those who are elected into positions of office should also know that power is transient and that if people criticize me that it doesn’t mean that you are enemies.
“I don’t think that in the 36 states of the country that you can find a governor who can stomach criticisms not just from traditional rulers……”
Gov. El-Rufai has been generally applauded for identifying with the deposed emir after offering him two separate appointments within 24 hours.
