Sanusi Tipped For 2023 Presidential Contest
By Ayodele Oluwafemi
Sympathetizers of the enthroned Emir of Kano Emirate, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II are already tipping him for the 2023 Nigeria President.
Sanusi was sacked as the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on 20 February, 2014, by former President Goodluck Jonathan after raising alarm that $20billion oil revenue had gone missing.
The former CBN Governor suffered a similar fate when he was deposed by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State yesterday, for allegations bordering on disrespect for the office of the governor and other lawful authorities.
Sanusi’s dethronement has been interpreted to be purely politics, after he had spoken against some of the problems prevalent in the Northern Nigeria, and the role of the Northern Governors in creating such problems.
Immediately after his removal, some of his sympathetizers have taken to the social media, especially Twitter, to tip Sanusi for 2023 Nigeria President, under the hashtag #Sanusi2023.
They argued that there is something bigger coming the way of the dethroned Emir, while premising their argument on the fact that when Sanusi was sacked as CBN Governor in 2014, he assumed the position of Emir of Kano Emirate, one year later and after his recent dethronement there will be another bigger achievement than the post of Emir.
