An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday remanded a 34-year-old banker, Tomilola Olaosebikan, in a Correctional Centre, pending her sentencing for stealing N646, 948.

The Magistrate, Mrs Ejiro Kubeinje, remanded  Olaosebikan after she pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing.

Kubeinje adjourned the case until March 23 for facts and sentence.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mr Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the defendant committed the crime on Feb. 5, at No 480, Ikorodu road, Ketu, Lagos.

Ihiehie said that the defendant stole the money belonging to the complainant, Jesse Field Microfinance Bank, when she failed to remit a loan a customer repaid to the bank.

“She converted the money to her personal use and lied that customer was delaying the payment,” the prosecutor said.

Lucky said the offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 prescribes three years jail term for stealing.
