400 Camry Cars: Nigerians Blast Selfish, Insensitive Reps

Many Nigerians have kicked against the House of Representatives for taking delivery of Toyota Camry 2020 model cars as official cars, without considering the need to acquire medical equipment to curtail the outbreak of Coronavirus.
The Punch had on Friday reported that the delivery of the some of the Toyota Camry 2020 model cars had commenced and that some were parked in different parking lots within the National Assembly Complex.
Each of the vehicles is reported to cost about $35,000 (N12.8M) enough to put up a reasonable health care facility in each federal constituency.
The decision of the lawmakers to also go for the foreign vehicles against the local option had also been extensively preached against.
Nigeria is currently battling the curtailment of COVID-19, and has s confirmed 65 cases, 3 discharged, while one has died as at Thursday.
There is apprehension that the country does not have the requisite health equipment including ventilators to combat the disease.
With the inadequate health facilities to combat the deadly virus, many Nigerians expected that adequate resources should be channelled towards the nation’s healthcare but to their surprise, lawmakers are taking delivery of 400 expensive cars.
Many of those who have taken to the microblogging platform, Twitter, blasted the green chamber lawmakers for being insensitive and selfish at this moment, the nation is battling Coronavirus.
