Aisha Buhari was misinformed about the operations of the Social Intervention Programme of the Federal Government, Maryam Uwais, Special Adviser to the President on Social Investments said on Thursday.

The First Lady had led the attack against the Social Intervention programme of the Federal Government fuming last year that there was a lot of ignorance about the programme from the citizenry despite about N2 trillion so far invested in it.

The First Lady’s criticism has lately been taken by the National Assembly which recently fumed over the fact that the distribution of the empowerment is laden in secrecy.

Responding to the criticism in an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, Mrs. Uwais said:

“The people we are impacting on are not people who have access to the media, they are not people who are visible on the landscape, they are not people that are known.

“So, I am saying she (Aisha Buhari) must have been misinformed, the information is available, we know the number in every state and every month I prepared an update.

“In the past we had people who would say this person or that person is in the programme, or I have given certain names, but unfortunately that was not my directive this time. I was asked to go and meet people who didn’t know anybody but who deserve to benefit.”

Responding specifically to the First Lady’s dismissal of the programme she said:

“I did address that because a lot of people don’t know because these people are not visible on the landscape of our country. They are in far away places and we didn’t approach her.

“So, I am saying she (Aisha Buhari) must have been misinformed, the information is available, we know the number in every state and every month I prepared an update.

“I sent her a report and we did not ignore any state, it is not about North or South it is about Nigerian citizens who deserve the benefit. So, because we are doing things differently it is hard for people to appreciate.”
