Falana Faults Buhari, Malami On Judicial Reforms
Legal luminary Femi Falana has welcomed the move towards the digitalization of judicial processes in the country as revealed by President Muhammadu Buhari and the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami.
He has, however, affirmed that the executive branch of government is not in the position to direct the judiciary on how to run its processes describing it as a breach of the principle of separation of powers.
Falana who said the recent executive order to embrace new technology in judicial processes was not new as it had been canvassed him, the senior lawyer who spoke in an interview on TVC said:
“We have the Chief Justice of the Federation and the Chief Judges of the state, it is not in the position of the AGF to tell them what to do.
“It would mean turning the judiciary into an appendage of the executive. If the AGF had known he would have observed that the Ag President of the Court of Appeal has already issued practicing guidelines in that direction,” Falana said.
