Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, an aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the September governorship election in Edo, on Friday felicitated with Muslims on the commencement of Ramadan.

Ize-Iyamu in a statement he personally signed which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin, described Ramadan as a period of devotion by the Muslim faithful.

According to him, today our Muslim Ummah begins one of the crucial practices of the faith, having sighted the crescent moon.

“This year Ramadan may seem to have come at a very troubling time but it is in a moment like this that we resort to our faiths for respite and hope.

“And in a period of great uncertainty such as we are in, the hope is that Muslims in reading and meditating on the Holy Quran acquire the fortitude to live out the time,’’ he said.

He also said that this period of devotion equally strengthened Muslims unto peace, kindness, generosity, love, and respect for others.

Ize-Iyamu added that these being intrinsic values that the Islamic faith promotes among its faithful and the rest of humanity.

The governorship aspirant said that it was his desire that through the season’s intense fasting and praying, the ambition of the faithful would be achieved and their faith strengthened.
