Actress Eniola Badmus has taken to her Instagram handle, to share the screenshot of an apology from the sponsor of the N500,000 giveaway that landed her in public odium following revelations she asked for a 30% commission for doing the giveaway to the poor.

The 42-year-old actress was the subject of controversy last week when the screenshots of her conversation with the sponsor appeared on the social media. She was reported to have blocked the sponsor when he demanded for his refund.

Many social media users perceived the action of the actress as greedy and insensitive to the plight of hungry Nigerians who were to be the beneficiaries of the giveaway especially comeing during the economic hardship occasioned by COVID-19.

While offering an explanation to why she demanded N150,000, the actress said the charge was to enable her offset bank charges.

Her explanation that she had also been involved in doing giveaways in the past did not help her much in the public space.

On Tuesday, the plus sized actress went on to twitter to publish the apology from the unnamed sponsor who regretted the controversy.

The letter reads, “This is not what I want for you.  It was a miscommunication. I did not do this. My brother’s friend in Lagos did it. I am so sorry. I am responding bow because I feel you will be calm by now. I know what you went through. I feel your pain, Am so sorry.

“Moreso, all the noise on Twitter and blogs and all other social networks. I chose not to respond simply because I want the issue to die natural death for peace to reign.”

The Instagram handle of the sponsor as seen in the screenshot uploaded by the actress is piusomoyele.
