‘Yoruba Man’ Gambari, Is Buhari’s New Chief Of Staff

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari who served as his minister of external affairs during his stint as military head of state as his new chief of staff.

Gambari 75, is from Ilorin, Kwara State and is a prince of the Ilorin Emirate.

GreenWhiteGreen learnt that ahead of his resumption that Gambari met with the president at the Presidential Villa early on Tuesday. Sources say he is expected to resume on Wednesday.

He is to replace the deceased chief of staff, Mallam Abba Kyari who held the position from 2015 till he died of COVID-19 last April.

Following his stint as the minister of external affairs, Gambari served in the United Nations and held several positions and was involved in trouble shooting efforts across the world including in Darfur, Sudan,

A scholar and seasoned diplomat, Gambari served as minister of External Affairs between 1984 and 1985.

He was appointed by former United Nations Secretary Ban Ki-moon and the chairperson of the African Union Commission as Joint African Union-United Nations Special Representative for Darfur in 2010.
