Puzzles On Kyari’s Role As Buhari’s Appointees Spat

The former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, late Abba Kyari has again become a subject of debate on the microblogging platform, Twitter, following reports that he approved over 150 memos without the President’s approval.

The Guardian on Sunday, reported that Buhari may have directed the new Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari to cancel all such appointments and approvals.

“Though no reason was given for the President’s alleged action, however, reports indicated that no less than 150 memos without the President’s authorization may have been uncovered.”

Prior to Kyari’s death, there were insinuations that the former Chief of Staff was the de facto President, with a handful of revelations in the public domain to affirm that he controlled almost every issue in the presidency.

Kyari was widely perceived as the engine room of the cabal that had immeasurable influence over the president.

The new revelation has strengthened the views of the existence of a cabal that acted outside the president’s remit.

The public spat between the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, and the Chairman of Nigeria Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, over office space again set tongue wagging on the competency of the president.

Some social commentators opined that if Kyari were alive, such show of Impropriety by the two officials appointed by the same government, would not have occurred.

With the latest report on Kyari, some Twitter users further argued that the president is not in charge of the affairs of the country.

Apparently, Kyari carried out some tasks without the knowledge of Mr. President.
