Abike Vs Patanmi: Outraged Nigerians Speak Out

Nigerians have taken to social media to lament the crisis between Abike Dabiri-Erewa and Isa Patanmi over the alleged forcible eviction of officials of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM from an office space donated to it by the Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC.

Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa had taken to social media to lament the continued seizure of office equipment after she claimed her officials were chased out on the order of the minister.

The development has attracted strong reactions from Nigerians with some alluding to an absence of leadership following the death of the erstwhile chief of staff, Mallam Abba Kyari.

Dr Pantami and Madam Abike have blocked me.

A number of twitter users said they would prefer not to support any one of the two antagonists insisting that at least one of the two parties was lying.

Dabiri-Erewa had actually poked at the minister as the liar asking why an Islamic scholar like him and a PhD holder would tell barefaced lies.

“Let them break each other’s head. I am a fencist like Ebonyi Piers Morgan,” Ikechukwu writing from @iykimo said.

Speaking in the same vein, another twitter user said:

Tonight, I am a ‘fencist’. Even by my weakest emotion, I cannot take side in the Pantami/Abike fiasco.

Maybeks twitting under the handle @MayUbeku said:
“When a leader has failed, you see his subjects or employees tearing pants on Sosha Media. That is the case of Pantami and Abike. Clear signs of lack of leadership and coordination in this govt. The Leader who would have fixed things is nowhere to he found. Buhari has failed.”

Another twitter user said:

“Abike dabiri took to the public in a video which she claim,the minister of communications(pantami) ordered gunmen to chase NIDCOM staff from office.

“Pantami on the other hand denied the allegations it’s obvious one of them is lying. When will they sell Nigeria and compensate us?

Madam Abike Dabiri Erewa said an Islamic scholar Isa Ali Pantami should stop lying with his PhD.

There were others who alluded to a lack of leadership in part arising from the dead of Mallam Kyari.

“Pantami and Abike’s public fight on Twitter confirms what we have always known. Abba Kyari is dead and there’s no one in charge,” Malachy Odo II writing from @MalachyOdo1 said.

“Why are you laughing at his “PhD”? Is there something else you need to say? Pantami’s disrespect for women is legendary; Hanty Abike, what does this mean?

“Are you also claiming that Pantami illegally stole govt property by seizing govt office properties? Answers or I sue….” Mazi @FestusGreen said.

 One twitter who came out strongly in support of the minister was a fellow Ph.D holder, Abubakar Hidima who tweeting under the handle @Realoilsheikh said:

“Dear @abikedabiri, Whatever you think your academic qualifications are, you cannot mock the PhD of the honorable minister Dr. Isa Pantami.

“Secondly, may be you do not have anyone to tell you this; have you ever checked why you are having problems with @GeoffreyOnyeama?”

Mazi also tweeted:

Abike mocked Pantami’s PhD. And I am personally wondering if the “PhD” is affidavitized?
