Lille’s player of the season, Victor Osimhen has been on the radar of European powerhouses after a consistent display of sensational performances in the French Ligue 1, Champions League and French Cup.

The Nigerian forward had a magnificent season after amassing 18 goals in 38 games before the premature end of the season.

The 21-year- old is presently in a battle of wits over his future. The question is whether this is the right time to take up challenges in the bigger clubs or stay back with Lille and gain more experience.

Albeit, the lethal striker is still young and has a lot of years pending on his football career. It is an uphill task for any player to turndown tantalizing offers from clubs like Real Madrid in La Liga, Napoli in Serie A and Tottenham in the English Premier League.

But a decision has to be made and it will mean much for his career progress. The fact that he just went nuclear this season, it is ill-advised for him to move to the next level.

In football, wealth of experience counts a lot, and staying back for a few more seasons to gain more ground won’t be a terrible idea.

Extending his time at Lille will give him more time to mature into a world class striker.

He is under danger of being labeled “a one seasoned wonder player” if he fails to replicate his blistering form next season. A continuation from where he left off in the French top division is the best decision he can take.

That is better than going straight to the bigger clubs where he has to adjust to a new system and deal with the pressure of impressing his new employers.
