The process for the emergence of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate in Edo State starts on Tuesday with supporters of one of the major contenders, Ken Imansuangbon advancing the advantage of his popularity and doggedness in the party’s quest to regain the state.

Imansuangbon popularly referred to as the Rice Man and by others as the I-Pad Man for his philanthropy was screened by the PDP screening committee virtually.

However, despite the lockdown and his inability to energise the electorate, enthusiasm for his aspiration has, however, not wavered among his supporters as he aims to raise the odds against the All Progressives Congress, APC presently dogged in crisis.

Enthusiasm for Imansuangbon’s bid is being built on the basis of his popularity across the state helped by his philanthropy and what associates say as his fighting capacity.

Campaign officials say that as in the past that they do not expect him to be at a disadvantage on account of ancestry saying that his popularity goes across the state.

His campaign strategists expect him to seize the Edo Central District vote and seize the momentum in neighboring communities in Edo North especially in regions bordering Edo Central.

Imansuagbon with a good share of both Edo Central and Edo North hopes to divide Edo South with Ihama and with it emerge victorious.

A campaign source said: “It looks difficult but this is how we are going to win and you know the people especially in Edo South are looking for a fighter, someone who will fight the incumbent or Oshiomhole street to street and Ken is the man.”

On the prospects of Imasuangbon able to divide Edo South as envisaged, the campaign source said:

“Don’t forget that Imansuangbon has always done well among the Bini who see him as one of their own and I don’t see any reason why it should be different this time.”
