The combatants in the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC Monday intensified their strategic efforts against one another on Monday as the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP expressed pleasure with Governor Godwin Obaseki towards ensuring a peaceful PDP primary.

While supporters perceived to be loyal to Governor Godwin Obaseki sought a court order restraining the party from conducting any primary, the Oshiomhole forces in Abuja got their own on Obaseki by re-designating the official address of the state chapter.

Justice M.G. Umar in his ruling on Monday asked all parties to the suit to stop all actions towards the procedure to be used for the primary pending the determination of the suit on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Oshiomhole got his own back on Obaseki with a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC re-designating the official address of the party in Edo State.

The import of the letter a source told GWG was to delegitimize the Anselm Ojezua executive that is backing Obaseki.

Meanwhile, with the APC in chaos, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Monday expressed pleasure with the governor’s approval of the use of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium for its state primary on June 19 and 20.

The approval was conveyed to the party by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Osarodion Ogie according to the document obtained by GWG.

Lauding the governor for the quick response, the PDP in a statement obtained by GWG said:

“Edo PDP is pleased to report that His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki has granted approval for our party to use the Samuel Ogbemudia Staduim for our Governorship Primaries.

“As a law abiding party and in compliance with the extant COVID-19 Regulations in the State, we applied for use of the stadium in line with Regulation 2(2) of the Dangerous Disease (Emergency Prevention) Supplementary Regulation dated 22nd May, 2020 (gazetted vide Gazette No. 20 vol. II)”

Edo PDP governorship primaries is scheduled to hold on 19th and 20th of June, 2020.
