Nigeria football fans have triggered an online debate over who was the better keeper for Nigeria between Peter Rufai and Vincent Enyeama.

The two former Nigeria goalkeepers had successful stints at the posts while goalkeeping for Nigeria and their different clubs.

Peter Rufai, 56, fondly called Dodo Mayana had 56 appearances in the Nigerian shirts, played in 2 FIFA World Cup tournaments and was an integral part of the team that won the 1994 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia.

Rufai had club professional career in clubs in Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. That was after an impressive time in the shirts of Stationery Stores of Lagos.

Vincent Enyeama, 37, had 101 appearances in the Nigerian shirt from 2002 to 2015. He led Nigeria to win her third African Nations Cup in 2013.

Enyeama had club professional career in Nigeria, Israel and France. His most successful goalkeeping career was in France with Lille during the 2013-14 Ligue 1 season, where he kept 11 consecutive clean sheets, not conceding a goal after 1,062 minutes.

Football fans, on Twitter were as at Tuesday debating on who between the two was the best Nigerian goalkeeper of all time.

Some believed that Engeama was the best Nigerian goalkeeper especially considering his goalkeeping exploits in Lille, France, while some gave it to Rufai.

Remarkably, they left out other prominent Nigeria goalkeepers such as Emmanuel Okala, Best Ogedengbe, Wilfred Agbonivabre among others.

The debate was also being influenced by exposure to modern technology as it was observed that many of those who watched Rufai are not on twitter!
