Wike To Gandujue: Dollars Won’t Help You In Edo

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has hit back at his Kano State counterpart, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje taunting him that “dollars” will not determine the election.

Wike and Ganduje have been appointed as the Chairmen of the Edo governorship election by the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressive Congress respectively.

Recall that the image of someone depicted as Ganduje was alleged to have appeared in a viral video in 2018 collecting dollars as bribe from different contractors and shoveling them inside his babaringa, a scenario that had earned the Kano governor the nickname, ‘Gandollar’.

Wike, speaking at the inauguration of the PDP campaign team in Abuja, on Tuesday, said people of the Niger Delta will collect Ganduje’s dollars and vote for their conscience.

He claimed that the APC appointed Ganduje as the head of its campaign team because the party believed that with Ganduje’s dollars that will be able to win the election, saying the PDP will not be intimidated.

Responding to Ganduje’s comment that the APC will isolate him before the election, Wike said, “If Nigeria is supposed to be a country, who is supposed to be isolated? A man who pockets dollars in babanriga (referring to Ganduje’s clothes) from contractors is not isolated and you say that me should be isolated in this country? Where are we heading to?”

Continuing, he said: “What he doesn’t understand is that we are from the Niger Delta; we shall chop his dollar and we will chop him to a coma. So, Ganduje, your dollar will not work in Edo State, we have integrity in our party.”
