Hushpuppi On The Way To Getting US Citizenship!

International fraud suspect Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi could be on the way to having a United States citizenship it has emerged.

The development came as the Government of the North American island nation of St. Kitts and Nevis admitted that the suspected fraudster is a citizen of the country.

The country’s prime minister in a statement said Hushpuppi acquired the country’s citizenship through marriage to a citizen of the country last February. The marriage was, however, contracted in Lagos in 2018.

St. Kitts and Nevis is a dual-island situated between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. It has a population of about 52,000 as at 2018.

Hushpuppi’s  marriage to 32 year old Ms. Shawana Nakesia Chapman has also opened way for his acquisition of US citizenship as his wife is also an United States citizen.

Even before the acquisition of US citizenship, his citizenship of St. Kitts and Nevis gives him the leeway to enter several countries of the world without visa as his wife’s country has visa free leverages into many countries in Europe and the Americas.

A statement issued from the prime minister’s office on the development read thus:

“We note that the Nigeria-born Mr. Abbas, 37, was granted a St. Kitts and Nevis passport in February 2020 by virtue of his marriage to Shawana Nakesia Chapman, 32, a citizen of St. Kitts and Nevis by birth and the United States of America.

“Ms. Chapman, a resident of North Carolina, USA, married Mr. Abbas in Nigeria in October 2018, thereby conferring him with the right to St. Kitts and Nevis citizenship.

“Any suggestion that citizenship was obtained through means other than marriage – such as the country’s Citizenship by Investment program, which includes rigorous background checks – is therefore utterly false and willfully misleading,” part of the statement reads.

Hushpuppi has been indicted of cyber fraud in the United States and is currently held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC), Chicago, Illinois after his arrest by the Dubail Police in an operation dubbed “Fox Hunt 2.”
