Uzodimma Supreme Court

The Imo State government has berated former governor, Emeka Ihedioha, for not accepting his fate like some other former governors who were removed by the Supreme Court.

The chastisement by the Hope Uzodinma led administration came as a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, adjourned a suit asking the court to restrain Governor Hope Uzodinma from acting as Imo governor.

The suit filed by the Reform and Advancement Party (RAP) and its 2019 governorship candidate, Okere Kingdom, held that Uzodinma was occupying the seat of Imo governor illegally, having not participated in the 2019 election as a candidate of any political party.

But responding through the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, the Imo government said Ihedioha was desperate to return back to power to cover up allegations of fraud against him and his cronies.

The government accused Ihedioha of plundering the state within seven months.

“Unlike Celestine Omehia of Rivers State, Prof Osunbor of Edo and Chris Ngige of Anambra, who were removed by the Supreme Court and accepted their fate, Ihedioha has been obdurate and recalcitrant as if the office of Governor of lmo State is his birthright.

The Imo State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has, however, said Uzodinma’s fight with the previous administration was a front to look for legitimacy that has eluded him since he took the mandate given the party.

When Uzodinma clocked 100 days in office, Ihedioha said it peddled lies and contradictions in what he presented to Imo people as his achievements in office in hundred days.

In a press statement released and signed by (Hon) Uche Onyeagocha the former SSG during Ihedioha era, the former administration stated that Uzodinma was economical with the truth and lamentably tinged with implicit and explicit fallacies, misconceptions and deceits aimed at usurping or refuting “the uncommon accomplishments and profound foot prints of the short-lived PDP Government.”

For Uzodinma who is in altercation with his party members over control of Imo APC, this certainly is not the best of times.
